Description

The units on the 1 year Level 2 Diploma course are designed for progression onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music. The course provides a wide range of activities in which the leaner will gain experience of:
The Historical Development of Popular Music.
Music Theory
Music Performance Skills
Recording
The Music Business
Sequencing
As well as having the opportunity to form your own bands and compose original compositions you will be given the chance to record and take part in live performances as part of a ‘Purple Worm Records’ project. Purple Worm Records is the college’s own independent record label working with local artists/performers.

You will learn the basics of Music Theory and Notation, as well as how to use common music software such as Sibelius and Cubase and have the opportunity to take Music Theory grade examinations.

Progression

Further study e.g. EDEXCEL (BTEC) Level 3 Subsidiary/Extended Diploma in Music or EDEXCEL (BTEC) Level 3 Subsidiary/Extended Diploma in Music Technology.
