Hull School of Art and Design founded 1861

HSAD provides high quality practice based programmes supported by critical and contextual studies for students studying up to masters level. Students are valued for the contributions they bring to this creative environment and we endeavour to support them with good base studios, well equipped workshops and committed teaching. We continually update our facilities and environment and maintain the ethos of a specialist art, design and media school for our staff and students to innovate and work in.

We are fortunate to have HSAD centred in Hull and students play a large and active role in the life of the city and its cultural quarter. Hull is a dynamic city and a great place to be a student. It is an affordable and responsive place to live and work. Cultural life is strong and caters for a significant undergraduate population. For new students living accommodation is cheap and plentiful and many students choose to live in well managed and independent accommodation just a few minutes walk from HSAD in the cultural and museums area.

Staff are practice and research active. This is important to students seeking post graduate study or employment after their undergraduate studies. The vocational areas of the curriculum and strong employer links ensure that graduates have every chance for relevant progression after their degrees.
